Teaching myself new skills continues to help me step out of the authoritarian state of mind where most of my previous education happened. It reinvigorates my desire to learn and create because I am no longer “learning”, but playing. I taught myself bass guitar, with a few lessons here and there, for around six months until I started playing in a band. I’m still in that band and now I handle our email copywriting, video editing, and various other tasks. While in college, I realized I was fascinated by economics, namely the Austrian school. Since then I’ve studied the subject and created my own blog to talk about these ideas, as well as teach myself new skills. Before long, I was getting into marketing strategies to reach more people.
